When it was announced that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge would be coming to Singapore this year as part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, I had hoped to get a chance to see them in person. My friend Eugene and I hatched plans to try and catch the Royals from their first public appearance at the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Unfortunately, it was a private event and we were unable to get even the tiniest glimpse of Prince William and Duchess Kate.

We fulfilled our Royal dreams and more today, when we made the trip to the Gardens by the Bay Supertree Grove.  We headed downtown at 6:30 am in the hopes of nabbing a prime spot for the Royal Visit, and we were in luck!  Although it took over 2 hours of waiting in the sweltering heat with the sun beating down on us… it turned out to be one of the best days ever!  The buggy carrying the Duke and Duchess stopped right in front of us, and I was able to shake hands with both William and Kate!   William made the walkabout around our area of the gardens first, and I totally spluttered “Your Royal Highness!” when it was my turn to speak to him.   He is so handsome and charming in person.   When it was my chance to meet Kate, I was so starstruck I just blurted out: “It’s so nice to meet you!” (Hahaha. What…!)  She smiled at me and said “It’s nice to meet you too.”  All in all… it was an experience of a lifetime and I am fangirling for the Royal Couple more than every before. <3  What a fantastic day!!!
